I love to show people things again for the first time! That’s right. Sometimes we can see what we thought we knew, in a whole new way.
As a tour director in the Southwest, a guide in Washington, or as an international visitor liaison with overseas visitors, sharing stories and places of this country is what I truly enjoy.
I’ve been privileged to show young people Washington, DC for WorldStrides for thirteen years. I also work for the US Department of State as an international visitor liaison escorting official guests of our government around our country.
I created Off the Record Tours to tell the stories behind the sites in Washington. Specialized tours include Capitol Hill, Embassy Row, Arlington National Cemetery, and tours customized to the client’s needs. My motto: The crowd goes one way; we go the other.
In Washington, where I have lived for more than thirty-five years, my favorite thing to do are taking visitors to the Lincoln Memorial at night, Eastern Market on weekends, evensong at Washington National Cathedral, guessing who’s in a motorcade, the Evening Parade at the 8th & I Marine Corp barracks, and Politics and Prose bookstore.
I have traveled to England, Spain, Greece, Russia, Croatia, Antigua and Barbuda, China, South Africa, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Turks and Caicos, Canada, France, St Lucia, Germany, Lithuania, St Barts, Honduras, the Bahamas, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the Cayman Islands. In the US I have visited 48 states (Idaho and Nebraska I will get to you!).
I hold a BS from Elizabethtown College and a MSW from Bryn Mawr College.
Some of my favorite things: Basset hounds, The Godfather I & II, John le Carre novels, Bruce Springsteen in concert.
