THE ROLE
The role of a Tour Director is to administrate and manage the operation of the Globus family of brands in order to provide a quality touring experience for customers.
THE POSITION – YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN THE U.S.A. TO BE HIRED
The Tour Director is responsible for the following results:
- Managing on-tour operations for assigned region continually exercising independent judgment and discretion to accomplish results, including:
- Creating and presenting, in your own style, interesting and entertaining travel commentary to tour passengers in fluent English
- Handling day-to-day operational needs and passenger issues
- Making effective decisions/solutions regarding passenger safety and required tour changes
- Collecting funds for optional excursions and completing timely and accurate tour accounting reports
- Reading maps and providing clear & concise directions to the motorcoach driver
- The willingness and ability to share knowledge and expertise of the regional destinations and logistical tour operation needs with others
- Providing feedback on suggested product changes and enhancements
- Building solid business relationships with tour suppliers and internal partners by establishing rapport utilizing influence rather than control
- Listening, understanding, and addressing customer needs and achieving a positive group dynamic among passengers throughout the tour
- Providing feedback to internal partners on supplier quality issues within the region
- Meeting or exceeding customer tour rating goals for North and South American tours
- Exercising the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in all decisions that may impact customers, suppliers, and the organization
- Contributing to a team effort by accomplishing related results or projects as needed
EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or three or more year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. TripSchool, ITMI or IGA graduates preferred.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
The preferred candidate has noteworthy experience in the following areas:
- Previous experience conducting tours or leading groups of people
- Previous experience in a training and/or leadership position preferred
- Destination expertise in one of the specified regions
- Previous experience building relationships with suppliers, regional/field experts, industry partners, and internal partners
- Ability and willingness to verbally express historical, scientific, and factual data in a creative, interesting, and exciting manner to both customers and internal partners
- Utilizing skillful presentation and personal skills to enhance the enjoyment of an audience
- Ability to travel extensively for long periods of time
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Understanding and respect of places, ideas, and cultures
- Basic mathematical aptitude
- Knowledge of Globus, Cosmos and Archers Direct products, services, and policies
- Basic level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
