Bambi specializes in Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia’s colonial history, offering private, customized walking and driving experiences that bring the people, architecture, gardens, taverns, public buildings, and stories of the colonial capital to life. Her knowledge includes William & Mary and the historic Wren Building, Bruton Parish Church, the religious history of Virginia and Colonial America, and Virginia’s role in the American Revolution. Seasonal experiences include Christmastide tours featuring Colonial Williamsburg’s spectacular holiday decorations, traditions, and stories, as well as seasonal ghost tours exploring Williamsburg’s legends, folklore, historic characters, and haunted places.

Jamestown
Bambi offers extensive knowledge of both Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement, including the early English colony, Powhatan culture, James Fort, the recreated ships, and the 1608 Glasshouse—one of the most fascinating connections to Virginia’s early industry. She enjoys exploring the stories of the people who shaped the colony and the important role of religion and faith in early Virginia. She can create customized Jamestown experiences based on guests’ interests and arrange special experiences when available.

Yorktown & the American Revolution
Yorktown is a particular area of expertise, including Yorktown Battlefield, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, and historic Yorktown. Bambi brings the American Revolution to life through the stories of George Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette, Rochambeau, Cornwallis, and the American and French forces whose alliance helped secure American independence. She enjoys connecting the battlefield with the historic town, waterfront, and the larger story of Virginia and the Revolution.

James River Plantations
Bambi specializes in the historic estates along Virginia’s James River, including Berkeley Plantation, Westover Plantation, and Sherwood Forest Plantation, while also offering other James River plantations such as Shirley Plantation as options depending on the interests and availability of the group. Berkeley offers nearly 300 years of history, remarkable Georgian architecture, and presidential connections as the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison V and William Henry Harrison, the ninth U.S. president. Its Civil War history connects directly to the Peninsula Campaign and General George B. McClellan’s headquarters. Westover is renowned for its exceptional Georgian architecture, while Sherwood Forest was the home of President John Tyler and is famous for being the longest frame house in the United States. Bambi enjoys exploring not only the architecture and presidential history of these estates, but also the stories of the people and communities connected to them.

Tidewater & Civil War History
Bambi has extensive knowledge of Civil War history throughout Virginia’s Tidewater region, including the Peninsula Campaign of 1862, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Hampton, Fort Monroe, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and the James River. She enjoys telling the larger story of the campaigns that unfolded across the region and connecting military events to the people, communities, and landscapes affected by the war. Her knowledge also includes the Monitor and Merrimack/Virginia, the development of ironclad naval warfare, and the strategic importance of Hampton Roads and the Chesapeake.

Norfolk, Hampton Roads & Naval History
Virginia’s maritime and naval heritage is another area of special interest. Bambi spent four years as an engineer with the Naval Sea Support Center for the Atlantic Fleet, giving her a personal professional connection to the region’s naval history. She enjoys sharing the stories of Norfolk, Hampton Roads, Naval Station Norfolk, Battleship Wisconsin, Nauticus, shipbuilding, the Chesapeake Bay, and the important role Virginia has played in America’s maritime and naval history.

Richmond
Bambi offers tours focused on Richmond’s colonial, Revolutionary, Civil War, religious, architectural, and cultural history. She enjoys exploring the Virginia State Capitol, the city’s historic neighborhoods and changing landscapes, Monument Avenue, and the James River, while placing Richmond within the larger story of Virginia and the nation.

Charlottesville & Central Virginia
Bambi has a particularly personal connection to Charlottesville and the University of Virginia, where she graduated and where three generations of her family have attended UVA. She offers destination knowledge encompassing Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, James Monroe’s Highland, James Madison’s Montpelier, presidential history, early American history, religious and cultural history, and the remarkable architecture and landscapes of Central Virginia. Her lifelong interest in architecture adds another layer to exploring the region’s historic homes, institutions, and landscapes.

Appomattox & Civil War History
Bambi offers experiences centered on Appomattox Court House National Historical Park and the dramatic final days of the Civil War. She enjoys telling the story of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee to General Ulysses S. Grant and placing Appomattox within the broader story of Virginia and the nation.

Group Hosting & Experience Coordination
Bambi brings extensive experience not only as a guide, but as a host and coordinator for groups. She has hosted school groups, patriotic organizations, retired military groups, private groups, and multi-day visitors, providing tours while helping coordinate the many details that make a group trip successful. Her responsibilities can include coordinating transportation and schedules, helping guests get on and off buses, organizing meals and dining stops, building in appropriate free time, managing transitions between attractions, communicating with group leaders and drivers, and helping guests navigate the unexpected details that inevitably arise during travel. Her goal is to make the experience feel seamless so that group leaders can enjoy the trip along with their guests.

She also provides step-on/step-off guiding, private customized tours, Christian heritage and religious history tours, school and educational experiences, multi-site and multi-day itineraries, and behind-the-scenes experiences. For larger groups, she uses Retekess Whisper wireless headsets so guests can hear clearly while touring busy historic sites, walking city streets, or moving as a group.

Credentials & Professional Background
Bambi is a Certified Williamsburg Guide, commercially insured, and holds a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) with Colonial National Historical Park for professional guiding at Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield. She is a member of the National Tour Association, as well as the Center for Palladian Studies, Preservation Virginia, the Tidewater Virginia Historical Society, and the Warwick County Historical Society.

A graduate of the University of Virginia and Tulane Law School, Bambi spent four years as an engineer supporting the Atlantic Fleet before turning her lifelong passion for history, travel, architecture, and storytelling into her career as a professional guide.
