About

I was privileged to spend the first half of my life in the amazingly beautiful state of Utah. I spent my time exploring the mountains, deserts and National Parks. I return every opportunity I get to hike, bike, explore and continue learning all the history, geography, and lure the state has to offer.

The second half of my life was spent living in various places in the great state of Washington. Starting in Seattle and working my way north to the Islands then Glacier, Washington, on the Canadian Border. Involved in the Alaskan fishing industry I traveled and worked in Alaska.

Currently my home is Arizona where I continue to explore and learn about our fascinating Southwest region.

In 2022 I lead Fall Color Coach Tours in the six New England States starting in Boston, MA

In 2023 I am in the Great State of Alaska leading a variety of coach and rail tours all throughout the South Central Region, Seward, Talkeetna, Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks.

Fun Fact!
A proud moment of mine is when in Kenya three Maasai elders gave me their red robes to show me honor. I simply stopped and chatted with a group of their children as they were walking home from school. I was so impressed with the fact that the children as young as 4 years old could speak 3 languages. They practiced their English with me and I practiced my Swahili with them. The elders thanked me with gifts of their robes. I was so honored.
Hobbies & Interests
When I am not guiding you will find me making travel plans for new and exciting destinations to check off my bucket list. I’m an avid cyclist both mountain and road bicycles and belong to several cycling clubs. I just recently completed my first bicycle tour, the Tour de Tucson, riding 65K. Next year it will be 100k. Hiking is a true passion and the Camino de Santiago, a 500 mile hike/walk beginning in France and continuing through Spain is on the itinerary for 2023. Travel journals are my artist outlet combining my love of writing and drawing. One day I hope to publish one or two of them. I collect regional cookbooks in my travels and when at home I put them to good use trying to recreate some of the delicacies I have experienced while on the road.

Spring 2023

Dodie,

You’ll never guess what my daughter asked me when I returned home (from DC) on Saturday…

”Hey mom, did anyone tell the story about the flood lights and the bugs and the bird poop???”

She heard that story Eight years ago and still remembers it. Clearly a winner! Dodie, so happy you shared that one story with us.

Dodie is fabulous as a Tour Director and even better as a helpful friend. She is now the standard that all Tour Directors will have to match as far as I am concerned. She is always professional but very friendly and someone you really enjoy just being around.
