When I was in my teens and all of my girlfriends were dreaming about their wedding and what they would name their children, I was dreaming about which countries I would travel to! But they weren’t just dreams, they were goals. After college, I backpacked around Europe for a few months and a few years later I spent a year in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and SE Asia. I’ve now traveled to almost 50 countries on 6 continents and 41 states. And now I have the best job in the world where I get to share my passion with others.
After spending 25+ years as a Learning and Development Specialist in the corporate world, I was able to transition my skills in facilitation, engagement, presentation skills, leadership, and instructional design into a new life of guiding students and adults through new and exciting adventures. For me, travel is a lot more then seeing the famous sites and checking off bucket list items (not that there is anything wrong with that). It’s about learning and experiencing new cultures, different food, local music and theater, and meeting new people. And most of all, having fun! This is what I try to share with my travelers.
As a 5th generation Washingtonian, I love to show off my hometown. DC has amazing memorials and museums, of course, but it also has so much more. Great neighborhoods, every type of food you can imagine, lots of theater, all of the major sports teams, and hidden gems on every corner. I love to see traveler’s eyes light up when they see the Lincoln Memorial for the first time, or learn about Alice Paul who organized the very first march on Washington. So many stories to tell!
