I have always enjoyed being the tour planner/guide when I travel.  Since high school I was planning trips for my friends and I.  A map and a full tank of gas could take me on an adventure!  Experiencing the places history happened and exploring landscapes beyond my Wisconsin home has always been my motivation.  I started giving tours around my hometown, Janesville, Wisconsin about 15 years ago.  We have a great collection of Victorian homes and 14 historic districts that were not being supported or explored.  I also was a docent at the local Lincoln-Tallman House and that allowed me to really get to know a site and introduce it to travelers from all over the world.  My interest in exploring the world was heavily influenced by watching the Olympics as a child and seeing the athletes compete in exotic (to me) locations made me want to see those cities and landmarks myself.  I have since attended five Olympics and there is nothing like being there in person.  I was an official volunteer at the Rio Games in 2016 and having the opportunity to work with athletes was a dream and an experience that I will always cherish. Being a guide and teacher, has become my vocation and I love those “aha” moments that show me that people are making the connection between past and present and why a certain place matters.  When I lead a tour, I am “Roaming Rich” and I encourage you to “Roam Around with Me”.
