Though born and raised in San Diego, I have lived and worked much of my life in other places including suburban Chicago, Washington D.C., Central Texas, The Netherlands and Okinawa, Japan. My career as a high school social science/math teacher provided me wonderful opportunities to educate children, including many refugees, from all over the world. As a teacher/administrator, I organized and led 17 multi-day tours for students and families in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Since retiring from teaching I have worked as a San Diego tour guide for cruise ship passengers and an OTL tour director for Dutch and English speaking travelers touring the National Parks and the Western United States. In addition, I organize and lead small private tour groups to Europe.
I hold dual USA/EU citizenship and I speak Dutch at the intermediate level.
I primarily live in San Diego but often reposition myself in Amsterdam for European tours.
We raised three children and are now blessed with two grandchildren. Fortunately, all of them love to travel!
