Travel is a passion that I have followed since childhood – for fun, for work, and for personal growth and transformation. I started my career as a journalist, and later, while living in France and in England, I became a business and economics teacher. After joining the Foreign Service, I served as a U.S. diplomat in Africa and Asia. Back in the U.S., I became a licensed DC tour guide in 1989 and soon afterwards, I started directing tours domestically and internationally. One of my niches is women-only tours to destinations around the world, and I have led more than 50 such tours. I enjoy meeting the incredible women who travel on my tours, as well as the opportunity to share the world with them. I also focus on faith-based tours and enjoy connecting with and collaborating with travelers to inspire purpose and to share our beliefs. I hold a Master’s degree in Philanthropy, and a BA in Communications and French.
I love introducing people to new sites and new ideas! As a tour guide in the DC/NYC/Philly areas, as a Tour Director domestically and internationally, and as a Travel Coach, my strength is telling stories and sharing famous sites, as well as those off the beaten trail.
In Washington, DC, where I have lived since the 1980s, I enjoy taking travelers to the Smithsonian museums, Ethiopian and other ethnic restaurants, the myriad of parades, and evensong at the Cathedral.
I have served as a Tour Director to countries on five continents; some of the highlights have been Portugal, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Austria, the Trans-Siberian Railroad, China, Vietnam & Cambodia, Jordan, Dubai, Nepal, Tanzania, Kenya, Zanzibar, South Africa, Madagascar, the Baltics, Quebec and Montreal, Canada’s Churchill for the polar bear season, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, the Galapagos, Brazil, Mexico’s Oaxaca and Costa Rica.
I became a Travel Coach to help people take the trips they dream about – which are typically tied integrally into their life and priorities. I help clients answer the questions: How can I find a career and work remotely? What country or countries are best matches to fulfill my dreams? How can I find meaningful purpose while traveling? I am also a Certified Travel Planner and can then help you turn your dreams into reality!
My passion is helping each of my travelers and would-be travelers figure out what sort of travel works best for them and how do they build it into their lives. One popular class I teach is “Work Reimagined” in which I collaborate with participants to figure out their passions, job requirements, and preferred lifestyle to find ways to earn income and love their life, usually while traveling. I am also a facilitator for DISC, a behavioral assessment tool.
Some of my favorite things include historical novels, cathedrals, live theatre, volunteering, cats, and ethnic foods.
