“The only source of knowledge is experience.”
I love this adage by Albert Einstein because the only requirement to achieve knowledge is participation. For 30 years, I have dedicated my life to creating and sharing experiences through the art of hospitality, travel and service to others. As a U.S. Geological Survey biologist, I worked on the endangered species project to repopulate the Black-footed Ferret, a sacred animal to many First Nations. As a licensed E.M.T., I experienced the gravity of true emergencies, the importance of teamwork, the value of rapport and staying calm during high stress situations while delivering medical care. My job as the Hotel General Manager of a river cruise ship placed me in charge of daily operations aboard the ship and in ports of call. This included overseeing guest excursions, guest presentations, guest experiences and recoveries, the use of resources, socioeconomic relationship building, as well as safely transporting hundreds of guests from port to port. All of these experiences have provided me with the knowledge to be a skilled and passionate tour director and guide. I love meeting new people and showing them the wonderful cities and natural wonders that I care about so much, and I really enjoy being a person who can provide groups of all ages with experiences that might be life changing.
