Tours Offered & Destination Knowledge
To start, a virtual tour I've been working on through the pandemic year (and before) on Cops, from the beginnings of a professional force in 1845 to the consolidation of the five boroughs into greater New York City in 1898 and the birth of the modern NYPD. Central Park, its less visited parts, and more recently Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Historic Manhattan from the Battery to midtown, especially the era of the American Revolution. Our Manhattan villages (West Village, Greenwich Village, the East Village), and other historic districts around town. The Dry Dock District (now East Village), America's premier ship building center, which birthed (there's a pun there) many of the great clipper ships of mid century America and the China trade. Roosevelt Island and a trip on the tram! Governor's Island. Ellis and Liberty Islands. Let's not forget Staten Island and a trip on the Staten Island Ferry. The subway system, from before its actual birth (horse drawn trams, omnibuses, trolleys, cable cars, steam railroads, early elevated lines) to today's latest line, the Second Avenue Q train. Plus, I have lots of old images to illustrate my tours.
