"Bob is a National Treasure and should be protected at all costs. He's incredibly patient, good-humored, personable, gently firm when he needs to be, knows how to keep us safe, and best of all has endless amounts of knowledge tucked away in his brain - everything from stories about the American Revolution and Civil War, including names and dates, the streets in New York and the boroughs, all the way to where to find the best cookie in the world. And he is a great storyteller, too, so it gives the sites we visit context and humanity. He doesn't outsource his information to recordings or pamphlets. He doesn't give a rote delivery. He's present, interested, and engaged. He's empathetic. He knows when he needs to break up a long walk with mini rest stops story-breaks. He knows when we're tired. He's flexible and can work around the group or whatever curve balls we might get. And one of the other things I appreciated was how clearly he communicated. EVERYTHING. The schedule. The atmosphere. What security was going to be like. Exactly where our next meeting place was. Directions to the next place. All explained to us very plainly and accurately. So, we knew what to expect. This is key, I think, to feeling safe and having a pleasant experience. Being in a new place can feel very disorienting and overwhelming. Bob was the anchor. His trusty orange umbrella was a welcome sight in a strange crowd. I'd trust Bob anytime to take me anywhere."
"Hello, I recently was lucky enough to travel on a (tour operator name) tour with (school name) Band. I feel extremely lucky because Bob Lisson was our tour guide. Bob was engaging, appropriate and insightful. He handled teenagers awesomely. Besides being passionate with stories of the places he took us, he kept everyone engaged. He did some music trivia, he had a photo contest for the kids and then used the winning pics in a Kahoot he made for our trip. One teacher commented how he phrased his information as teachers are taught to get people to ask questions and engage them. Bob was also knowledgeable about the area and gave our bus driver good directions and they worked together well. Bob was an awesome tour guide in so many ways, and I wanted to make sure that you knew that. Thank you for a wonderful trip."
