As a child growing up in rural Connecticut, my worldview was broadened with each new arrival of a doll from countries around the world, sent to me by my uncle in the Navy. Colorful and exquisite clothes that opened my eyes and heart to the diversity of the world. So much to learn! Excited by the possibilities. As a voracious reader, I explored the world through books until I was old enough to hoist a backpack and head off.
At the age of 22 when I first caught sight of the stunning Rocky Mountains my heart was smitten and that joy has never subsided. Determined to explore one of America’s greatest gifts, its national parks, inspired me to move to the West. As a mother, I wanted my two daughters to experience that same joy, as we camped and hiked, exploring geology, wildlife, and the lives and traditions of both indigenous people and the new settlers.
I now have the great joy of sharing that passion leading VBR travelers through our National Parks, Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, and New England. Sharing the magic of the sun reflecting off the mountains; the elegance of a condor in flight; being at just the right spot to view a double rainbow stretching across the vibrant red rocks of the Colorado Plateau; and rejoicing in baby bison protected by a herd that fought extinction, creating for us a sense of the West in a time long ago. My goal is to bring to you a bit of magic in each day and inspire a childlike joy and wonder in our adventure. Let’s sing, dance, explore, laugh, and make new friends.
