About

I have lived  in or on the edge of Yellowstone National Park since ’95, with forays away to teach kids downhill skiing and to work as a naturalist on a whale watching/wildlife tour boat in Alaska. I have guided all ages and backgrounds on hikes, roadside wildlife watching, geyser gazing, skiing and more. I am a mother to a bright, curious, intelligent daughter, and wife to a brilliant ecologist. We own a small ecological consulting and guiding company, Walking Shadow Ecology (https://www.yellowstone.education/) based on the edge of the park. I find my sanity, passion and reverence for life by playing and guiding in this wild landscape and being constantly reminded that we are on a moving, breathing planet!

Testimonials

The Yellowstone tours are great. Ashea is one of those special guides who are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, fun and welcoming. If you haven’t already realised what an incredible planet we live on and that we need to do our utmost to protect it I’m sure you will be convinced by the end of one of Ashea’s tours. More please.

I’ve been on a good few tours now, all enjoyable and excellent, but this visit to Yellowstone blew my mind! I get as excited as Ashea when talking about rocks, geology etc and í was in a state of high excitement throughout the whole trip! Beautiful photography, clear explanations and a genuine love for her subject, Ashea did a wonderful job. Thanks, Ashea for a wonderful tour!

I was raised by two teachers...my Mom and Dad and so I know a natural educator when I see one. Not only did we get to see such beautiful sights...but we received science, geology and history lessons as well. What a remarkable, thorough, enlightening, and exciting tour!

Ashea is one of the most enthusiastic and genuine guides I’ve had the pleasure of following! Her words are deep and her knowledge is endless. Every tour, every time, thorough and true. Her deep connection to all things Yellowstone including the landscape, wildlife & science shines through when she’s speaking. Thankful for this opportunity!
