When you spend hours of free time mapping cities and creating walking tours for your family, it’s time to turn that hobby into a career! I have an enthusiastic curiosity for the world’s diverse cultures and am a firm believer that travel has the power to transform and enrich lives. As a tour director, I aim to facilitate a joy of discovery for all of my guests.
While I am a native Minnesotan, I have lived and worked in many cities in the US and abroad. Prior to tour directing, I worked as a self-employed consultant in finance operations focusing on process improvement projects. What does that mean? It means that I take pride in turning a big chaotic mess into something useful, manageable, and productive. As a consultant, I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of clients from large corporations to small family businesses. This has provided a fantastic foundation for skills needed in tour directing including customer service, creative problem-solving, organization and time management, quick thinking, flexibility, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities. After the Covid pandemic, my job had become 100% remote and I missed the in-person interaction. I knew my second act career needed to combine my professional skills with my passion for travel. It didn’t take long to find tour directing. While I have always been the “travel planner” for my family and circle of friends, what really lights my fire is helping and encouraging people to find and move past their own limits. This can range from gently encouraging trying a new or exotic food to leaping from waterfalls in the jungles of Venezuela.
I look forward to working with you!
