Hi,
My name is Ainura. It means ‘moonlight’ in Kazakh language which is where I come from. Kazakh is my native tongue but my first language is Russian, and I speak fluent English as well. A little bit of Turkish and Spanish but mainly what my friends taught me. I love languages!
I live in London. Moved here nearly 20 years ago, in 2002 and started a family. It was all going well and smooth until I have realised that I didn’t know much about London. This is when I decided to become a guide. After all, what better way to get to know the city where you live? Two years of hard work studying and sitting lots of exams resulted in me getting the only officially recognised tourist guiding qualification in the UK, Blue Badge Guide. I started working in 2014 and never looked back.
If you ask me what I like most about London, I would say what an incredibly interesting and beautiful this city is. It still blows my mind away when I come out of Westminster Tube Station and see Big Ben, looming above. It is a magnificent structure and London is full of them as well history, culture, beautiful parks and gardens and many more.
I am still exploring it and often together with my friends and clients. No two days are ever the same. One day you get up and close with pelicans in St. James’s park and the next day you are mesmerised by masterpieces in The National Gallery, or you show London to avid Instagrammers. It’s a great privilege to know and guide in major London museums and tourist venues. I will never take it for granted.
I work with big groups and small families which I equally enjoy. I love working with kids. They startle you with their questions, surprise with unusual view of things, make you laugh with comparisons they make and amaze you with the number of things they can take in and remember. You just need to bring it all to life for them, even if we are talking about museum artefacts which are thousands of years old.
As a guide you never stop to learn and I am currently developing several tours, including Islamic Art and Asian Opulence in The British Museum, Parks and Gardens of London and British Food.
I am a very warm and friendly guide and what I lack in terms of not being born and raised in London, I make up with my fresh views of this 2,000 years old city.
Please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help you or if you just want to have an initial chat. I would be delighted to hear from you! My website is: www.london-ai.co.uk
