After years of adulting, trying to determine what I wanted to do and decades of various careers, I discovered my true calling is as a Tour Director/Manager.
I was raised in New Orleans and at the age of 18 my family moved to the US Virgin Islands on a 48′ sailboat with the intention of sailing around the world. It didn’t work out! I ended up getting a Captains license, becoming the youngest female in the Islands with a USCG license. I took guests on sailing adventures for a week at a time showing them the beauty of the Caribbean, teaching them to sail and snorkel, as well as how to race hermit crabs. After af few years of sailing, I lived in Austria briefly, then Australia for a few years, back to the Islands, and now residing in East TN.
I have owned two restaurants, retail business, and was a Real Estate agent. But the most enjoyable time I have had in my working career has been touring.
In 2019 I jumped into the Tour business and, well, the rest is history. In the first 6 months I was working for multiple companies and completed more than a dozen tours. Not bad for just entering the industry.
I work with Adult and Student companies. The majority of my tours are within the South and Southeast but my knowledge expands to the West. I am always willing to learn about new destinations and guests never know it’s the first time. We all lead tours for the first time somewhere. I fill myself with knowledge beforehand and thanks to the power of the internet, it is easy to research destinations.
I have excellent evaluations which average 4.9 out of 5, many come back as straight down the line 5’s. Just ask, I’ll send you the evals if you want proof! The main comments: organized, efficient, sense of humor, able to handle problems calmly and fun.
I truly enjoy touring with both adults and students. I love to socialize, have fun and laugh with my guests. You need laughter on tour, you also need lasting memories. I provide that and more.
I find I am creative, in my mind, but once on paper, the drawing I pictured in my head becomes more of a stick person. Lucky my job does not entail drawing!
When I am home, I have a house which needs renovating (and yes, a dog which needs attention) so I spend a lot of time working on my house. I’m always looking for volunteers to assist if you have spare time. If not willing to volunteer maybe you can help fill my calendar so I’m not home often.
